Hunting together on another planet (especially with extreme temperatures, over-the-top deadly creatures, and other elements of great danger). Game warden Ciaran takes Steele on the job. Finding the next probe involves surviving in the weird west.

Supernatural. What would the supernatural even look like in a universe like this? Haunted spaceships, creepy caverns, deadly magic. Ghost stories and other horror stories come true. Monsters in the wilderness. Daylight is dangerous and the shadows are safer. Each planet has different mythology and legends.

Holidays and rituals. Ciaran’s been santa and had a haunted home. Lupercalia with hellhounds. Day of the Dead in worlds where the dead walk. Alien holidays Steele gets introduced to and has to navigate. Alien courting rituals.

Sex. Specific Pairings

Chaurmine. Chaurmine runs into trouble hunting a bounty and Steele has to come rescue him. Steele basks in his literal, physical warmth after jobs on ice planets. Saurmorians don’t love, and Chaurmine struggles with the concept of love, but does love Steele, and they have to navigate those complications. Chaurmine fights her to love her, and Steele takes him down in new, inventive ways.

Ciaran and Miss Kitty. Writer has hinted at various bits of Ciaran’s past (Steele meeting his daughter, all the scars, his clear background with Miss Kitty), but updates on that have been slow. Steele and his daughter bonding over how reticent he is to open up. Miss Kitty taking Steele in hand and showing her how to dominate Ciaran in those rare times he’s submissive. An adventure takes them back through Ciaran’s old stomping grounds. Ciaran shows Steele his favourite places in the New Texas wilderness, all the places tourists can’t go. Steele and Ciaran team up to help/save/work with Ciaran’s daughter, or Miss Kitty and her cathouse, or Steele’s crew.

Edan. Steele’s good in negotiations in a lot of ways; Edan uses her in them again and again. Edan’s a merc and gets called out to help old friends. Steele goes along for the ride (and to ride him). Steele has to prove herself by fighting and/or fucking any and all of the people they encounter.

Note: I’m not familiar with the books. I don’t hate season eight as a whole, but their endings were not satisfying. Canon divergence at any point in the series welcome. In canon divergence or alternate universe, I want Brienne to remain a fighter in whatever way fits the setting. I like vicious, sociopathic Cersei only slightly tempered by Jaime and Brienne. Pet sociopath is one of my favourite tags.

Adventures. Forced to flee and work together to survive in the wilderness. Canon divergence where everyone survives and finds a way to live in the new world.
